i thought you weren't looking at americorps. what happened? i was considering it for awhile myself but didn't really get deep enough into it to get IN. i know you will though. any particular area of the country you're looking at? is hawaii an option? :D
I hadn't even thought about Hawaii. I was looking at peace corps but they want a letter of reccomendation from my work and while I would like to think that Burns would have nothing but good words for me...I know better than that.
Also mom gave me a very hefty dose of passive manipulation (you know what I am talking about) in an effort to keep me here. Sadly she is very good at it and while I do not like being manipulated she did have several good points.
The live in programs are based in Maine, Denver, sacramento and one on the eastern seaboard, New Hampshire I think.
I would try Sacramento first then probably Colorado.
man, you'd love it up here. denver is maybe 20 mins from here. sacramento sounds awesome too.. close to the beach. have you ever considered just saving up and moving somewhere new, without the program? up here it's SO fucking easy to get a job, especially with the training you have, and the good credit you have, and it'd be real easy for you to find an apartment, a job, and friends. especially if you had a dog, too. people here are so dog friendly, and so friendly in general.
what are the good points she made? just remember, please, that she operates from a fear-based perspective a lot of the time. the world is still full of monsters in a lot of ways, and i know that until one really sees that they DO operate from that perspective it's almost impossible to even see it, let alone counter it.
